Materials Handling Area Leader

Position Summary:
The Materials Handling Area Leader is responsible for all duties of the Warehouse Supervisor in the Supervisor’s absence and will be in charge of the areas normally under the supervision of the Warehouse Supervisor. These duties include directly lead and coordinate daily Shipping and receiving activities. Counsel area team members in performance and personnel issues. Responsible for all daily Shipping and Receiving activity reports. Verify that computer data entries are completed daily. Perform additional duties assigned by Management. Ensure that food safety, legality, and quality standards are maintained at all times.

Job Functions:

  •  Working knowledge of all raw materials and packaging used in Materials Handling department.
  • Ability to operate powered equipment, maximize its use and fill in when short staffed.
  • Working knowledge of Ross ERP applications. Verify all data entries for the Materials handling teams. Complete daily activity reports and ensure timely completion of all required reports.
  • Maintain maximum efficiency by scheduling daily material movement to maximize labor hours and capacity; reducing overtime, implement procedures where appropriate; actively investigate methods of improvement and develop, implement and maintain training. Verify company policies are followed by maintaining the department to BRC, Master Sanitation schedules, GMP, and customer standards.
  • Keep the department in inspection-ready status at all times, complete and return monthly food safety committee audits on a timely basis, verify all safety practices are followed and safety record is maintained and work to eliminate impounds, product failures and customer complaints.
  • Manage personnel by counseling on personal and performance issues and verify and maintain work hours and PTO requests in Empower timekeeping software.

  • Maintain appropriate and professional written and verbal communication.
  • Ensure that food safety, legality, integrity and quality standards are maintained at all times.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by Management.
  • Regular attendance for scheduled shifts is a requirement of this position.

Job Requirements:

Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent desired

Food industry experience required..

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds continuously.
  • Ability to handle 55 gallon drums after training.
  • Ability to lift 100 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to stand continuously.
  • Bend, stoop, climb, reach above shoulder, crouch and push and pull frequently.
  • Use feet, hands, wrist, arms and shoulders constantly.
  • Work while standing on a 10 foot stepladder with rails.
  • Temperature variation of 55 to 110 degrees. May include physical inventory.
