Small Pack Drum Utility Operator

Position Summary:    
Responsible for the packing of small pouch product into cases.  Assist in operation of small pack equipment per safety standards and GMPs.  Manually palletize cases and help Operators with set-up.  Maintain work environment in neat and organized manner at all times.  Perform other duties as required by Management.  Ensure than food safety, legality, and quality standards are maintained at all times.

Essential Job Functions:
Responsibilities/ Duties:
• Operations
A. Packing of pouches into cases.
B. Help operate all small pack equipment.
C. Follow GMP’s while processing packaging.
• Quality
A. Monitor pouch weight while packing cases.
B. Provide first pouch, case with batch sheet for Q.A. or supervisor approval
• Set Up   
A. Set up small packaging equipment 
B. Set up printer in small pack area printer for case print
C. Set up case taper in small pack.       
• Filling
A. Accurately fill finish cases specified label weight
B. Ensure all finish good containers are sealed correctly in small pack 
C. Ensure all case and pallet counts are accurate per customer specification
D. Enter correct settings for box labels.
E. Palletize products per product instruction and customer specifications
• Cleaning
A. Clean equipment when required between batches as required to insure product quality
B. Clean and sanitize when required assigned equipment/plant areas per MSS, GMP, AIB and other guidelines.
A. Processing time, SPC (statistical process control), small pack reports, bag counts, product labels, metal detection, production stamp and all other data and report requirements 
A. Move finished/WIP products to designated areas per department procedure          
A. Work in harmony with all Illes employees 

Essential Job Requirements:


High School or Equivalent or the ability to obtain same within specified time.

Minimum 1 year Food Industry Experience plus minimum 6 months Small Packaging Equipment experience required.

Certified forklift driver or ability to obtain certification.
Read, speak, and write fluent English
Mechanical aptitude

Work in harmony with all team members.
Follow all Safety, GMP and AIB procedures and policies.
Must be flexible and be able to handle pressure and change.
Must have good math skills.
Good written, communication, problem solving, and planning skills.
Use all required protective equipment.
Adhere to scheduled work time and have good attendance.
Computer skills in Ross ERP, Microsoft Word and Excel.
Ability and understanding of Easy Label Software
Work closely with all departments in a professional, cooperative manner.
Must have ability to work in a fast paced and ever changing environment.

Ability to lift 40# boxes continuously
Ability to climb a catwalk
Ability to crouch and bend
Ability to tilt over and pour out up to 500# with assistance
Ability to handle 55 gallon drums after training
Ability to lift 100# with assistance
Ability to stand continuously
Bend, stoop, climb, reach above shoulders, crouch, push and pull frequently
Temperature variation of 55 to 90 degrees
Non-Exempt * Full-Time * Permanent
